Cisco Systems India Pvt. Ltd., started operations in 1994 with a Sales and Marketing presence spread across key cities in India and a Global Development Centre in Bangalore. In India, Cisco dominates the networking market in core technologies of routing and switching, as well as WLAN and Network Security Markets.Cisco provides software, hardware and network solutions to companies.

Cisco employs over 3000 people across India, and the first phase of the Cisco Globalisation Centre East campus will initially be able to accommodate 1200 personnel. Spread over 1 million square feet on the Outer Ring Road in Sarjapur, Bangalore, the first phase will accommodate staff from Cisco's Globalisation Centre, research and development (R & D), IT, and customer support teams in India. In October 2005, Cisco committed US$50 million to build this new integrated campus

Cisco Systems India Pvt Ltd. (CSIPL) has a fully owned Global R&D Development Centre (GDC) in Bangalore. Cisco’s Bangalore GDC is its largest GDC outside of the US. The company also has Joint Development Centres with Wipro Technologies and Infosys Technologies in Bangalore, HCL Technologies in Chennai and Zensar Technologies in Pune.
